On June 18, 2013 official ceremony of the presentation of the Letters of Credence to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria H.E. Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria H.E. Nikolay N. Udovichenko took place in the State House, Abuja.
On June 12 the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria H.E. Mr. Nikolay Udovichenko held the reception on the occasion of the National Day of Russia with the participation of high-ranking Nigerian officials, members of the diplomatic corps, Russian compatriots living in Nigeria, graduates of Russian universities.
Vladimir Putin congratulated African heads of state and government on the African Union’s 50th anniversary. The congratulatory message from the Russian President praised the pan-African association’s constructive role in regional and international affairs. It also expressed Russia’s support for the Union’s efforts to resolve and manage crises, as well as its involvement in peacekeeping, post-conflict reconstruction and ensuring sustainable socio-economic development.

On March 21, 2013 the representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation at the instance of the School administration held a lesson for the group of high school students. The title of the lesson was "How Russia Works: an Introduction to the Russian Governance in the XXI Century".
